"More Macross Frontier!"

To commemorate the 3rd time I finished watching Macross Frontier, here comes...

Ranka in her trademark 'kawaii' pose!

And the rest of this pack:

Brera Sterne, Ranka, Alto and Sheryl

Alto with his VF-25F. Unfortunately after so many posing and transforming, my 1/72 scale VF-25F is starting to fall apart :-S The model-kit just isn't meant for play. Time to get the 1/60 ;-)

Will Alto go with Ranka or Sheryl?

"More Macross!"

1) The shop at QB had the VF-1S Roy Fokker with Super & Strike Parts! Better yet, there's 5% discount! Good deal! Went to ATM, withdraw RM450 and straight grabbed it!

DSC08221_m
Roy Fokker's VF-1S is THE icon of the original Macross series. I want one too!! But I already have Hikaru Ichijo's VF-1A, so, this one's actually bought for fellow Macross fan: Eric! Enjoy the pics for now coz you'll have to wait till I get back to Melaka to hold it :P

2) There's always something for me though: Macross Frontier Characters (or what they call 'Gashapons')!

DSC08223_m
There were 2 sets available, I took this one, @ RM65 after discount. Each bag comes with 4 characters:

DSC08225_m
Can pose Michel with his VF-25G~~

DSC08231_m
Or Alto with his VF-25F, just like in the opening song~~

DSC08224_m
But the ones that I like the most is Sheryl and Ranka posing together... like the anime comes to life!

"A Sunday adventure"

Last Sunday, I met up with XM, Vivian, JC and SY for lunch. XM and Vivian were here for vacation (so nice!). What was supposed to be just lunch turned out to be a whole-day activity of non stop eating and walking! :D

Penang Road famous cendol, ais kacang. Hmm, tastes like.... ais kacang. Hahaha..

XM, V, SY

Then to Burmese temple for Water Festival... check out the guy with the pail, they basically splash water at anyone!

PICT0452_m

As can be seen, Vivian and SY were the only ones who dared to go in to the temple!
PICT0459_m
But the day was very hot, so getting splashed isn't really a bad thing ;)

Then to SY's house for a change of clothes and nice snack, then off to Kek Lok Si. But overshot the parking, so went up all the way to the Air Itam Dam.

Water level still looking good

At Kek Lok Si also can get a nice panoramic view.

The remnants of the old KuanYin statue.

And JC admiring the new bronze one. Currently there's construction going on to build a shelter for the statue so that it won't decay like the old one.

Then go to the famous Penang Laksa at Air Itam.. V actually said that was the best meal she had in Penang! After that almost dinner time dy, went to the Ship at Batu Feringghi, then night market at Batu Feringghi, then Gurney Drive food court, but oh, starting to rain, so cancelled that! Can't believe how much food we can actually eat. The one last stop at Air Itam again, where there's this road side stall selling... fresh milk mix with egg... V say, try, try.. ok lor... so the guy pop open some raw eggs, pour the hot fresh milk and pull it like teh tarik.. omg... the drink came out a bit weird for me. It's like ...raw egg??!

Reach home already close to 11PM. Very tired, but fun, been a long time since we had fun like this!

Oh, and the next day of course Monday blues kau2!! :-S

"Macross Frontier: Bandai 1/60 VF-25G Micheal Custom!"

Last weekend...

Buy 1, 5% off!
Buy 2, 10% off!!
Buy 3, 15% off!!!

Leo: "This one also got discount?", pointing to the newly arrived 1/60 VF-25G.
Shopkeeper: "Yes, same supplier one, no problem"
Leo: "Lets see. This is RM718. If 15%, then become RM610. Hey, that's pretty good deal!" Err, but today I'm here to buy YF-21 wor... "Uncle, YF-21 got discount?"
Shopkeeper: "5% only."
Leo: "Hmm.. normal time also 5%, this one can get 15%... better I go for this!" But need to buy 3 only get 15%. "What's the cheapest other product to get this discount?"

Shopkeeper: "Here, these are cheap.. RM17.90 and RM20.90 only. Can mix it."
Leo: What the heck are these?? But then, if add up also... *punching handphone calculator furiously* RM(17.90+20.90+718) -15% = RM643. That's about 10% off. Still ok wor. "OK, set!"

And here we have it: The 1/60 scale VF-25G Michael Custom from Bandai!

DSC08211_m

Huge box! Unlike the 1/72 scale which I bought earlier, the 1/60 scale is ready-made. It comes with the Super pack and stand too!

Fighter, Gerwalk and Battroid mode. Michael is a sniper, so the unique thing about his Valkyrie is his rifle, which you can open up manually!

The Super pack can be removed quite easily:

Check out the ankles: they are SOLID METAL! The whole thing is very heavy with all the die-cast parts and man, it even smells of metal! One thing though, be VERY careful when transforming it: I broke, yes BROKE the screw on the arm. The shoulder is also solid metal and very tightly fitted. The screw however, was those regular ones, so it broke when I moved it too hard. Luckily Modo got spare screw :P

The VF-25G comparison:

DSC08214_m

The 1/72 scale vs 1/60. The frustrating thing about the 1/72 is that it's really a model kit and not meant to be played. The parts fall of too easily and doesnt stay in place. Besides the price (1/72 already costs RM285), this is the other reason why I backed out and went for the 1/60. Make no mistake about it; the 1/60 is extremely expensive, more than double the price, but the end product really showes you what you're getting.

DSC08212_m

Ah, my Yamato's 1/60 VF-1A which I got for only RM379. Can see it is considerably smaller than the VF-25G. But it's extremely well build, even better than the VF-25G, as all the parts snap into place snugly. Yamato's engineering IMHO is really top of the class.

Ok, that's crazy. I just spent RM643 on this. RM643!!! Last time I had to work as Parkson promoter for one whole month just to get RM600! :-S

"I'm so crazy about Macross Plus!"

Yeah, already watched few times, really love it. The story is different than the other Macross series. No gigantic battle to save the world or anything. Just about two pilots who were best friends going up against each other to see which team wins the competition to choose the successor to the VF-11B.... and also to get the girl... Throughout, you'll be wondering why these two guys and the girl have such a strained relationship.

Ok, you've already seen Guld's YF-21, so here's Isamu's YF-19:

10051136a3
10051136a2
10051136a
Didn't really like this at first. I find the inverted wings abit odd. But maybe watch many times dy, grow to like it :P

And the VF-11B:

10082442a5
10082442a3
10082442a

Yamato is planning to release the VF-11B 1/60 scale model this month for RM7xx! I still haven't got the YF-21 becoz the shopkeeper refuse to give more discount :P The YF-19 was released last year.. so far still can't find it in any shop.

Ugh.. these toys from Japan are extremely expensive. I wonder is our buying power weak or what :-S

"Another sleepless night"

Woke up at 5.30AM again. Went to the balcony. Oh, full moon... looks really bright. Took out my Sony (gf took the Canon alrdy) and tried some setting, see if can capture the pic..

DSC08167_m

Hmm.. not really.. looks like a torchlight rather than what I saw, which was the clear full moon, can see the outline and the dark areas on it. Oh well... might as well snap some other pic...

The street , at 6.20AM... peaceful :)

"Chit-chat"

What a long and stressful week. This morning it was raining non stop, causing massive jams everywhere. The coastal highway was flooded, making it worse. I left home at 9AM, reached office at 9.50AM, and still the Modo carpark was rather empty. A lot of people were late for work. What a day, huh..

Work has been stressful lately, and I've only been getting a couple of hours sleep everyday. Like yesterday, I slept at 12.30AM, woke up at 5.30AM. Gosh, I feel really 'steam'.... Well, this usually happens when there's something bothering me. Especially like right now, I'm always thinking how to solve the problem (at work). I enjoy this feeling sometimes. It keeps me alert and focused.

"How's the wedding preparation?" is a question I get pretty often these days. Well, nothing much has changed since the registration day :P Gf is stressed out at the Institut Perguruan, overloaded with assignments. I guess one of the upcoming holidays we'll probably get back to Melaka to take the bridal pics. Whatever... :P

Yeah, I haven't gone back to Melaka since Feb. The only part that sucks with staying alone, is eating alone. Other than that, I'm pretty ok. The house is quiet, that's for sure, since my bro also no longer stays here. But I get the whole place to myself ;) So what to do everyday? Practice meditation! See what's going on inside your head. You'll be surprised to see how much chatter actually goes up there.

Gf's sister ask whether I would like to go for a 10-day meditation retreat in Pahang. I'm still considering. I heard about this place some time ago, but kind of hesitate to go. 10 days is a long time and the schedule is very punishing: wake up at 4AM, meditate (with breaks, meals and lectures) till lights off at 9.30PM.

Ok, that's it for now. I have some backlog items which I have been waiting to get the time to post. Till next time!
