"Food Fiesta!"

Ah, while talking about the time Gf was here (she had a semester break which ties with school holidays), I remembered some pics of the (what-else) food we had!

@ Dragon-i. Sichuan la-mien... sour and spicy.. yumm

food1

Also ordered their trademark Xiao Long Pau. We were early so got a seat by the window..

food2

Scenery overlooking Penang bridge and new luxury condo, Baystar. Unfortunately the day was spoilt when my dish never came despite repeated reminders. Oh well, screw, cancel and go opposite to Sakae Sushi :P

food3

They had a special for soft-shell crab. Very nice.

Next @ Air Itam market, the most famous Penang Laksa of them all... tricky part is finding a parking in that super-congested area, and a table to sit, but food arrives very quickly.. taste? Yeah, still awesome :)

food9

Next @ Mama's Nyonya Food at Lorong Abu Siti in town. Heard about this place from Sharon's blog, so went to give it a try... Bee-ko-moi (pulut hitam) shown above. They separate out the coconut milk, so u can put as u wish. Neat!

Oh yeah, and the appetizer ikan bilis is really superb, with lime and onions. Perfect!

food4

Kangkung sambal belacan.. one thing is obvious to me now is that Penang's version is really different than Melaka's. This dish is jz so-so. Not to my liking.

Was this limau purut or curry kapitan, I can't remember, but it tastes good :)

food5

We ordered this fried popiah dish too.. which was awesome. Even though really full dy, still whack finish :D Overall it's nice, though a bit on the pricey side.

Kheng Pin Coffee shop @ Penang Road. There are 2 items which are my must-order everytime I'm here. One is the delicious-but-very-small-plate-and-expensive Char Koay Teow :P

food6

and the other is of course the famous Lor-bak stall. Every table surely orders. Very highly recommended, but good luck finding it :D

@ Home, Domino's Pizza. Yeah, finally tried Domino's and it's really as good as my sis says. Move over, Pizza Hut!

food7

This is Hawaiian chicken. Thin crust version. Generous on the topping and u dun feel like eating bread only. Oh, speaking of bread, here's their garlic bread: totally awesome... serious, from the smell u know it's the real deal :D

food8

Also ordered the BBQ chicken sticks. Nice! Ok, till the next food hunt...!

"Transformers: ROTF and Terminator Salvation"

Gf had 2 free tickets which she got from buying Kit Kat. Unfortunately she had to return to Melaka in a hurry before we got to use the tickets. The expiry date for the ticket was 30 June, so last Sat, I went to Gurney to watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen! ALONE!! Some people may find it strange to watch in the cinema alone, but hey, it isn't the first time for me: I watched Star Wars Ep 1 SEVEN times in the cinema before ;)

Then on Monday, I went to Queensbay to use up the last ticket: Terminator Salvation. Transformers was so hot that for Terminator, I basically had the whole cinema to myself! No disturbance :D

final-transformers-revenge-fallen-poster

So how was it? I liked Terminator slightly more than Transformers with both being nice but not excellent. Definitely watch Transformers for Megan Fox: she's ultra-hot! The usual cast of good guys and bad guys have expanded, a lot more focus on Optimus and Bumblebee. I like Sideswipe and Sideways which appeared in the starting chase; they are sooo cool~~!

terminator-salvation-poster-2

Terminator is nice too. But unfortunately for Christian Bale, his John Connor was outshone by Sam Worthington's Marcus Wright :P Arnold even makes an appearance as T-600 model (although that was a CGI).

Next is G.I.Joe! :D

"Enterbay's Bruce Lee as Kato!"

Bruce Lee is one of my heroes and I really like his Kato outfit, so here he comes!

kato1
kato4
kato3
kato8

The body used here is ultra flexible, with enough articulation to do any sort of kung fu poses! Kato also comes with his 2nd outfit, which is a formal suit and bow tie!

kato5
kato7

Here's the certificate of authenticity: This is unit #627 out of 5000 produced worldwide.

kato6

Enterbay even provided a cool paper bag to go along with the very high quality wooden casing, a nice touch. Also, if you noticed, his eyeballs doesn't actually remain at the same position in these pics. That's thanks to the 360 degrees eyeball system which allows you to move them in any direction!

After discount this came up to ~RM600.. very painful, but I think the incredible likeness of Bruce Lee and the high quality materials used *sort-of* justifies it. Shopkeeper seemed reluctant (?!) to hardsell this to me. He kept saying, "Take care of it.." Maybe he was thinking of using it for his shop display?

"Obituary: Michael Jackson"

We seems to be in the age where more of our childhood icons are passing away. R.I.P. Michael.

"1/72 Armored Ozma & Alto!"

Here comes 1/72 Armored Messiah VF-25, Ozma and Alto! I saw Ozma at Times Square, the box was two times the size of the Super Messiah, and retails for RM300!

Alto even comes with Michael's sniper rifle which he used in the final battle! Love the box art but probably won't be getting these as they are not too durable for multiple transformations, as I learned from my Alto Super Messiah experience.

Now where is the 1/60 Armored Ozma?? :-S

"Major Alan Dutch!"

Hurray! Uncle's shop had a restock of Hot Toys' Dutch figure. After some thoughts, jz grabbed the last unit :P This is my first time buying from Hot Toys and really happy to say that I'm now a fan of their products! Just check out how closely they nailed Arnold Schwarzenegger's likeness as Major Alan Dutch in the movie Predator. Totally awesome~~

pre1

Of coz, as u can expect, this costs a bomb too. Retail price of RM498, I get 5% off. Can do lots of pose with this fella~~

pre2

Predator was during the movie era of macho big muscle men holding big guns blowing things apart and kicking ass :D

pre3

Can take off his jacket too. The detail on the clothing is also fantastic. There's little zips here, buttons there..

pre4

Tough guys need their cigar~~ Can actually go one step further and strip him topless to show all off Arnold's muscular glory.. lets leave that for some other time :P

Compared Dutch with some of Sideshow Collectibles' figures: Qui-Gon and Indy, and it was pretty clear Sideshow's version lacked the 'human-ness' of the real actors.

pre5

Dutch is really fun to play/pose with...

pre6

Can show him blowing off Qui-Gon's head... or kicking him out of the studio...

pre7

Can knife Indy... can be a Jedi too??!

The price is pretty steep on this guy, but u get a really top class product. Now to get his nemesis.. the Predator!! Gosh, that one costs waay more.... :'(

"Nightmare at Bridal Studios"

Hot hot hot.... weather hot, surveying bridal studios for wedding also make me hot... :-S

Surveyed a few shops during the weekend. After asking around where, what, how much. first one went to "Bahagia" studio. SA say he went there to take, since his fren work there. Not bad; the sales girl showed us some nice album samples, price around RM3k. But then they didn't allow us to take the package details out.

Ok, survey another shop: "Perancis-Taipei". Again, showed us samples, describe the package, show us the wedding gown, suit. Ah, but then....

Leo: "Ok, I'll think about it"
Sales: "What's your problem?"
Leo: "Huh??"
Sales: "What's your problem. You want this discount we also give you. Why you need to survey some more."
Leo: "Umm, let me think about it then I'll come back if I want."
Sales: "Like that this promotion is not valid next time you come back dy."
Leo: "What the--"
Sales: "Yala.. we give u this promo, if u are sincere to sign for us."
Leo: "Where got like that one??"

This went on and on for half an hour. You see, they start off nicely, friendly, happy happy, ask about urself, fren-fren like that.. all to get u to sign on the spot for them and close the sales. But if u know me well, I stand pretty firmly on my ground once I made up my mind. Salesgirl calls for reinforment: her pushy assistant manager!

Sales + Manager : "Tmr if u come back, no more this promotion dy"
Leo: "Ok, dun have never mind lor. Ok bye"
Sales + Manager : !

Thankfully ended the conversation. Already 2 hours inside. Omg. It sucks. Like they dun let u go. Then in the evening went to "BintangTimur". Same routine, showed us the pic, describe the package, bring us see the gown... then when we say,"Ok, we'll think about it.." THE SAME THING HAPPENS!! Blablablabla from 6 to 8PM!!!!!! ARGHHHH.... why they can't just let us look at the package and then go back and decide???

Sales: "ok, 5 minute for u to think lor"
Leo: -_-''
Sales: "Har.. this show u not sincere lor. u not sincere to sign for us. u see I treat u so well, spend time with u, u want discount i give, but u not sincere one.."
Leo: "Let me think about it ok"
Sales: "If tmr u come, then tis discount not valid dy. This is for customers who sincerely want to sign for us"
Leo: "Oh, ok lor. Bye". Left in a pissed off attitude :D

Finally, the next day, okla, decide to go for "Bahagia", at least feel better there (or could it be becoz it was SA's fren??) but somehow still hesistate when wana walk in. Like if go in, sure hard to come out dy. They keep pressure pressure. Shitttt. Gf say, "Lets survey one more la "Shalom", nearby only." Arghh..sien arrr.... but still drive there. Greeted by a sales girl and this guy (a guy in bridal studio??).

Sales girl: "Our shop only got 1 photographer, which is (points to guy)".
Leo: "Ok..."
Sales: "Our style here is simple. Simple is the best. We depend on our handiwork"
Guy takes over, explains about his photography style. "Usually shops tell u to come in at 9AM and finish shooting late night and only one outdoor place. For us, u come in at 12PM, we go several places to shoot. You want beach, building, trees also can. 6PM finish. Ok, u think about it. If you like, can come by here."
Sales: "Ok, bye"
Leo: !! Wow, no forcing me to sign!!!

Seriously, from the way the guy explained to us the technique he used, the passion in his voice, the detail which he goes through the pics, I'm hooked :D I didn't sign up yet, but we're totally blown away by his skill with the camera and the final product. Yeah, u know he's a master of his craft. Best of all, NO PUSHING!!

Tips for sales people: Respect your customer, don't be in so hurry to close the sales. You wouldn't know in your haste, you actually pushed away your potential customer!
