"Guo Da Li"

"A couple of weeks before the actual wedding, the ritual of Guo Da Li (literally meaning "performing the rites") takes place (on an auspicious date of course). The groom and a matchmaker will visit the bride's family bearing gifts like wedding cakes, sweetmeats and jewelry, as well as the bride price. On the actual wedding day, the bride's family will return a portion of the bride price (sometimes in the form of dowry) as a goodwill gesture."

Last Monday (Nov 30) was the date and here are the stuff we brought to Gf's house:

Not too many things.. a pair of candles, 2 bottles of whisky, some cookies...

A box of sweetcakes! Ten actually, which is a small number because Gf 's family said they only want to distribute to close relatives.

Each box has 4 pieces. I tried one, it's nice but a bit too sweet...

Oranges, lots and lots of oranges

Ang pows and the gold necklace

The wedding invitation cards are also ready:
