"Merdeka in Melaka!"

Last minute decided to go back to Melaka for Merdeka. And you know that means stuffing ourselves silly with lots of food!

Immediately that night we went to Yean San Mini Restaurant in Bemban for wildlife!

"sui yee", vege
mlk2
claypot tauhu, more vege
mlk3
"sei kiok seh", fish
mlk4
"tin kai"

The restaurant at night, which is about 40 minutes from Melaka town. Although eating wildlife sounds weird, actually most of it tastes like chicken. We used to come here long time ago, so it's really nice to be back, but we can sure do without the looong wait!

After that, time to meet up with the gang @ More cafe...
mlk5
Catch up some stories, play tai-tee, and pose for the new camera!

Early next morning was the next assignment: yong taufu @ Bkt Beruang
mlk14
Tried one of the new drink: teh with gula melaka. It's nice, but ended up tasting more like cendol! Ah, and Melaka's yong taufu, with all the glorious red chilli paste. Hurray! :D

Barely few hours later, we had lunch @ Aunty Lee's Nyonya Restaurant, yeah, the family's favourite place ;)
mlk6
unbeatable sambal kangkung, chicken with limau purut (drooling)
mlk7
fish with cili garam, tauhu tauchoo (drooling uncontrollably)
mlk8
Cencaluk omelette and to wrap things up, authentic Cendol! Slurppp..............

I had a short break in between, so I took the time to go for another of my fav activities:

catching a sunset!

After having so much food, gave the stomach a rest for dinner. And shortly then, went out again to Jonker Walk, hang out with the gang again :D
mlk9
gosh, so old dy, still doing silly poses! :P

We chatted till late night and by then, the streets were quieter. Just nice for a superb shot:

Next morning, mum decided to go for a food adventure in Jasin! There's this legendary wantan mee there, complete with the fable that they make their own mee, their own fishball, etc. And here it is:
mlk11
was it really good? worth the 45 minutes travel??

Holy crap, it's one of the best wantan mees I've ever had. EVER. Although it's not common to have fishball in wantan mee, I must say they deserve to be here based purely on the freshness of the fishball and the aromatic soup accompanying it. And the noodles, one bite and you know it's really hand made. Truly legendary!

Here's how the shop look like. Yeah, doesn't even have proper place to sit!
mlk10
And the surrounding town. Although I'm Malaccan, I doubt I've been here before this! :P

Oh, I also brought back the gifts for the family and a whole bunch of chocolates!
mlk12
And we also celebrated mum's birthday at night with this nice little ice cream cake... just like when we were younger :)

Oh no, next morning was the last day :'( That afternoon have to go back... but not before one more makan2 session: this time, Jasmine's Deli, just beside Aunty Lee's.
mlk13
The shop is opened by Aunty Lee's daughter, and we had Nyonya Laksa (sedap gila) and Nasi Lemak (awesome, maybe missing some kangkung though) there. It's fairly cheap and they serve in generous amounts. Highly recommended!

Ok, that's it. Went back to Penang, work the next day, got new Star Wars (1 case!), work work work, performance review, work work work, income tax issue, work work work..... you know the drill!

Man, so happy tomorrow is Saturday!
