On the way back from Pangkor, decided to use the more conventional path - highway! Along the road from Batu Gajah to the PLUS highway, there is one tourist attraction called Kellie's Castle. I pass by a few times during my old USM Tronoh days, but never went in... Now, lets see what it's all about!
Kellie's Castle front...
This is an interesting tree. Notice on the trunk is an image of...
... a bear! Cool huh...
Green green grass...
The castle is mostly uncompleted. The owner was said to have run into problems and passed away before it was finished. It was mostly forgotten until recently.
Walking the mysterious corridors....
One of the many secret tunnels/exits that link one part of the castle to another. They made these so that when the castle is under attack, there is a quick escape route. But it was too spooky for me, so I dare not try walking it..hahaha :P
Outside... damn hot day...
Ah, my favourite: the speech podium!
The background building is the first home of Kellie, only left ruins after WWII bombings...
The view from the tower! Notice the round speech podium. It also serves as an observation platform for Kellie to admire the beautiful view from his castle...
The castle is influenced by Islamic architecture.
Recommended? Hey, if you're around town, why not? :D
It's not free but quite cheap @ RM4 per person. The beautiful garden is already worth it ;)
